On 1 October 2021, after the mass raids in Gargaresh, thousands of us were arrested across Tripoli. Many were taken to detention centres. Others escaped and gathered outside the UNHCR office, where what became the 100 Days Protest began. Refugees in Libya grew out of that mobilisation and continues today as a movement founded by survivors of detention and border violence.
Five years later, Refugees in Libya, the Alliance with Refugees in Libya and ECCHR invite migrant and diaspora communities, together with others engaged in migration, human rights, social justice, border politics and international accountability, to an afternoon of looking back at five years of struggle while asking what can be built around a new opening for justice at the ICC.
That opening is the forthcoming trial of Khaled…
