Naeima Yaqoub

Vice president & Secretary

Naeima Yaqoub, born in 1998, grew up in Libya—a country where she never felt she belonged due to exclusion, racism, and discrimination. Though she studied medicine and worked as a nurse in Libyan hospitals, she faced rejection and arbitrary detention on a daily basis.

She and her family attempted to escape Libya multiple times by crossing the sea, but each time they were intercepted and imprisoned in the same country where she was born and raised.

In 2021, Naeima joined a 100-day protest, demanding equal treatment, dignity, and justice, and co-founded Refugees in Libya.

In late 2022, she was resettled in Sweden, where she continues to work tirelessly for refugee rights. There, she engages in social work to support the community, and serves as Vice President and Secretariat of Refugees in Libya. She travels across Europe, amplifying the voices of refugees in Libya and advocating for evacuation, justice, and protection.
